Random Panel

Since the beginning of this year, I've been steadily working on a graphic novel. The efficiency expert in me says I should focus strictly on the story until it's finished. However, the at times creatively frustrated part of me needs a distraction now and again. Rather than stop drawing, I decided to start a few shorter side stories. I'm not a big sketcher so I like to think of these side stories as sketchbooks with a narrative.

Anyway, this is a panel from one of the side stories along with a quick color test. I'll post more panels from all the stories as they progress.

More Noir

After working on the last sketch by Marcus, I got into a noir mood that could only be satisfied through a few sketches.

Noir

Here's another one of Marcus' sketches that fell victim to my inks and colors.

Collaboration

I was digging through my sketchbook and found a few pretty pictures. Figured I'd post them seeing as how my updates have been few and far between lately.

The pretty in the pictures is courtesy of good friend and great artist Marcus Muller. He provided the pencils and I came in with the inks. The results were interesting since Marcus' has a very animated, open style and the inks gave his linework a smooth texture.

Sketchcard - Hellboy

I'm a bigger fan of the rust/clay colored Hellboy rather than the bright red Hellboy. Either way, Hellboy rocks.

Sketchcard - Batman

Sketch card for this year's Midwest Comic Book Association's Fallcon, October 4th and 5th.

Unfortunately, the actual card is just inked, no colors. But I had some extra time so I threw in a few digital colors.

I'll post the other four sketch cards, along with colors, throughout the week.
